Jon Abel founded Phoenix Firearms Training and has been its lead instructor since 2012. After serving 6 years as a Military Police Officer in the United States Army, he has committed himself to the study and instruction of modern defensive shooting. He is a certified instructor through multiple entities, to include I.C.E., Rangemaster, and the National Rifle Association. Jon is also certified in School Attacker Response, Extreme Close Quarters Tactics, and Advanced Pistol Handling. He has created training courses certified by his home state of Minnesota’s POST and Private Investigation boards. Jon has instructed over one thousand students and brings the highest level of professionalism, experience, and dedication to Phoenix Firearms Training.
Brian moved to Anthem, Arizona upon retirement after 22 years of service in the U.S. Army. He has been involved in shooting/hunting since the age of 8 and thoroughly enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience with others. Brian brings a wealth of real-world experience with him. His military career included several years in the Special Operations community along with multiple tours overseas including Iraq, Bosnia, and North Africa. Brian is a certified instructor for both the NRA (Pistol) and USCCA (CCW and Home Defense). He is a also a graduate of the DARC Advanced Urban Combat and Unassisted Asset Recovery course. He firmly believes that every citizen has the right to defend themselves and their loved ones as effectively as possible. As an instructor he is dedicated to providing the best training possible to his students.
